Company description

One line

Voipy is a vertical-tuned AI receptionist for 17 small-practice industries, built and operated by SDN Bros Inc.

One paragraph

Voipy is an AI receptionist purpose-built for small practices — dental offices, vet clinics, optometry shops, law firms, insurance agencies, pharmacies, urgent care clinics, and 10 other verticals — with industry-specific call patterns, real PMS / EMR / CRM integrations, and an included 92-pattern scam-screening library called Voipy Shield. Built and operated end-to-end by SDN Bros Inc., a small founder-led shop that runs the GPU stack, model pipeline, telephony gateway, and customer portal in-house. Pricing is flat per-plan ($149-$1499/mo), trial is 14 days on every plan, signup is self-serve.

Full description

Voipy answers inbound calls for small healthcare practices, professional-services firms, and home-services businesses with vertical-tuned AI: an AI receptionist that already knows what a VSP/EyeMed verification looks like for an optometry practice, what a Medicare A5500 therapeutic-shoe eligibility check looks like for a podiatry practice, what a Mohs surgical-coordinator routing looks like for a dermatology practice, and so on across 17 supported verticals. Each vertical ships with industry-specific call patterns, FAQ scripts, integrations, and FAQ flows out of the box — no prompt engineering required.

The same engine powers Voipy Shield, a separate product for senior-living facilities and family caregiver services that screens inbound calls for known scam patterns. The Shield library currently contains 92 distinct phone-scam scenarios, each grounded in a named FTC, FBI/IC3, SEC, CFTC, FCC, FEMA, CFPB, SSA-OIG, or AARP advisory. The library is updated monthly as new threats emerge — recent additions include AI-deepfake celebrity-endorsement investment scams, Medicare flex-card / OTC grocery-card scams, and the Phantom Hacker 3-phase tech-support / bank / federal ruse.

Voipy is built and operated by SDN Bros Inc., a small founder-led infrastructure shop. The company runs the entire stack — GPU-hosted LLM inference, Whisper STT, Orpheus TTS, Telnyx telephony gateway, PostgreSQL persistence with per-tenant isolation, customer admin portals — without third-party model APIs in the critical path, which keeps HIPAA-covered call audio out of vendor-chain routing.

Story angles we can speak to

AI-tooled phone scams in 2025-2026

The pattern library is the deepest first-party signal on this beat we know of. We can speak to: voice-cloned grandchild emergencies, virtual-kidnapping with cloned voices, the Phantom Hacker 3-phase ruse (FBI 2024 advisory, $1B+ stolen since 2024), AI-deepfake celebrity-endorsement investment fraud (FTC 2025 + SEC 2024 advisories, $5B+ FTC-reported losses), and Medicare flex-card scams (CMS 2024-2026, ~250× volume increase since 2024 AEP).

Vertical-tuned vs horizontal voice AI

The 2026 product taxonomy: developer infrastructure (Vapi, Bland, Retell) vs vertical-tuned products (Voipy, Smith.ai's vertical tier) vs no-code builders (Synthflow, Play.ai, Goodcall) vs live-human virtual receptionists (Ruby, Posh, AnswerConnect). We can speak to which problems each shape actually solves and the buying mistakes most common in 2026.

Small-practice operational economics

We have multi-vertical first-party data on what the front desk actually does in a small practice. Solo dental offices burn 4-6 hours per week on the phone. Insurance verification eats 7-15 minutes per new patient depending on the vertical. Voicemail is the single biggest leak in the funnel — small-practice owners report 20%+ of after-hours leads never call back. We can speak to the unit economics across dental, vet, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry, dermatology, urgent care, insurance agency, law firm, and the rest of the 17 verticals.

Self-hosted GPU model stack vs vendor-chain APIs

We run the entire model stack in-house — Whisper large-v3-turbo for STT, vLLM Qwen 7B for LLM with Anthropic Claude + Google Gemini failover, Orpheus 3B for TTS, Silero for VAD — instead of plumbing through commercial voice-AI APIs. We can speak to the latency / cost / compliance tradeoffs of self-hosted vs vendor-chain for healthcare-covered call audio.

Quotes available for attribution

"AI dropped the cost of personalization to near-zero, so the attacker can now run a credible specific attack against your specific family member, your specific bank, your specific employer. The 2010-2020 scam was spray-and-pray. The 2026 scam is bespoke." — Anton Shannon, Voipy founder, Q1 2026 phone-scam report
"Owning the whole stack means we can ship a fix to a healthcare-specific call pattern in hours rather than waiting on a vendor's roadmap, and HIPAA-covered call audio doesn't pass through a chain of third parties." — Anton Shannon, on Voipy's self-hosted infrastructure posture
"Small practices shouldn't have to choose between answering the phone and protecting whoever's on the other end of the line." — Anton Shannon, on bundling scam-screening with the receptionist tier
